Would you dare to jump off bridge?
If you’re thinking of doing something extreme, you’ve definitely come to the right place! Adrenalin, nature, height, bridge, river… Yes lots of adrenaline 🙂
Bridge Swing! You are throwing yourself off of the bridge towards the water below with only a rope tied to you back. Does it sound crazy?
To be honest, when me and my fiends start talking about bridge swing I thought I did more dangerous things so this should be fine! No, not at all… Doing extreme sports are definitely not something that I can get used to. Not so quickly at least 🙂
I was all set up with climbing harness and an helmet. The guide gave me the usual safety instructions and asked me to go to edge of bridge. I look at the bridge and the water and I took a moment to think what I was about to do and yes the adrenaline took over my body!
When you are standing off on the outside of the bridge, the most difficult part is to take your hands from the bridge! The rope attached to your body does not really give you the safe feeling…
My heart started pumping more adrenaline, my hands and legs were shaking, and as usual I was talking a lot. I told myself ‘don’t give up, if you do, you will never do it again! It is Norway, trust them’… And I jumped off and free fell straight towards the river below; then when the rope became taught and then I started swinging away from the river and enjoying the butterflies in my tummy.
Jumping off and swinging are not the end of adventure, you need to climb back! Switching the swinging rope with other one in order to be pulled up to the bridge by your beloved friends was also challenging my limits.
Bridge swing is insane thing to do but also a kind of cute!
Practical information of bridge swing
- Bring your nerves and comfortable clothing – especially comfortable pans

About organization:
- Location: River Sjoa in Heidal
- The company I chose: Heidal Rafting in Heidal
- Best way to get there: rent a car! There is no direct bus or train
- Accommodation: there are a lot of cabins depending on number of people you are. Cabins generally has 4, 6, 8 beds and price per person is around 500 NOK. Some companies also offers lavvo(traditional Sami tent). I stayed in cabin in Rondeheim (don’t forget to bring your own bed sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases :))
There are a lot of bridges which organize bridge swing in Norway. I used Heidal Rafting in Sjoa which is only 5 hrs far away by bus from Oslo and paid 200 NOK. Thanks to guides who made this experience very safe!
