You know, you plan your whole trip in detail, everything is ready, and at the last moment you see a photo: two giant hands coming out of the earth holds a golden bridge and raise it among the clouds… Should you change your plan and see this bridge or leave it to next time? I was so fascinated by this golden bridge that couldn’t leave it for another time.
These giant hands – lift the golden bridge into the sky- is in the city of Danang in Viet Nam. Danang is the fourth largest city in Viet Nam and is located in the middle of the capital city of Ho Chi Min and its former capital, Hanoi. When I first went to Viet Nam, I passed by Danang city on my way to Hoian, which is on the UNESCO world heritage list with its 2000-year history. But newly opened this golden bridge (June, 2018) was calling me again to Danang. I made a small change in my Viet Nam trip in August and bought a one-way flight ticket from Ho Chi Min to Danang. The tickets were quite suitable for domestic flights. I booked one way ticket for 25 Euros 5 days before the trip.
The Golden Bridge was built on the top of Ba Na Hills at a height of 1000m from the sea, 45 km from Danang. The slopes of the mountain welcome you with very beautiful gardens and a kind of miniature city of Hoi An City. There are two cable cars to take you to the top of the mountain. One of them, called Toc Tien – L’Indochine is very special. It holds several Guinness world records such as the longest cable car, the largest among stations, the longest one-piece cable, and the world’s heaviest cable car. The 20-minute ride on top of beautiful forest takes you to the Golden Bridge. You should just come here to experience this cable car. No need to worry about security – it was was built by an Australian company, so it is the same as in the Alps 🙂
The walkway of the Golden Bridge is 150 m long and 5 m wide. The hands holding the bridge were covered with cracks and mosses in order to give the appearance of old stone remains. I did a lot of research on the story of these magnificent hands and the bridge which fascinated me so much. The only think i found out was what Vu Viet Anh, director of design at TA Landscape said: “the bridge was designed to evoke the image of “giant hands of the gods, pulling a gold band out of the ground”.
The golden bridge is not the only thing to see in Ba Na Hills. This place is huge and has a big Buddha statue, a Buddhist temple, a fantasy park, and an entertainment center with a French village, a castle, a wax museum – a wine cellar, a beer plaza and etc. I’ve enjoyed my whole day here.
